This hat was owned by "The Mob's Accountant" who was a major organized crime figure and along with Lucky Luciano, is known for the National Crime Syndicate in the United States. To find owned & worn items from some of the biggest names in Mafia history is almost impossible! Their families for the most part didn't think to keep items like these and you rarely come across items from a major name in Mafia history like this usually you can find much smaller names not bosses like him. If you look at old photos of Lansky, you will find he wore hats often and was a big part of his wardrobe. Meyer died in 1983, so we know this hat is at least 37 years old if not much older than that.

Associated with the Jewish mob, Lansky developed a gambling empire that stretched across the world. He was said to own points (percentages) in casinos in Las Vegas, Cuba, The Bahamas and London. Although a member of the Jewish mob, Lansky undoubtedly had strong influence with the Italian-American Mafia and played a large role in the consolidation of the criminal underworld. The full extent of this role has been the subject of some debate, as Lansky himself denied many of the accusations against him. 

This hat is a vintage custom-made grey hat from BEE Hats measuring 7 1/4 in size and gold lining inside and "THE CHASE" marking in the interior sweatband. The hat also includes yellow & green bird feathers on the exterior of the hat. 

This hat comes with a Letter of Authenticity directly from the Lansky Family. The letter is signed by Sandi Lansky which is the daughter of Meyer. A notary was present at the time she signed the letter which guarantees the letter is an original letter (not a copy) and based on the information on the letter guarantees the hat has authentic as well. It also includes photos of Sandy signing the letter as well as depicted in the photos in this listing.
